Maryland State Senator Chris West (R), representing District 42, will highlight key actions of the 2022 General Assembly, during which lawmakers moved to address many challenges brought on and exacerbated by the pandemic. An advocate for the environment, he will discuss the Climate Solutions Now Act along with legislation related to abortion, crime, “ghost guns,” gerrymandering, and other legislative issues.
Chris was born and raised in Maryland and he has been a practicing lawyer for more than 40 years. Named a "Top Rated Lawyer" in Banking and Finance in Baltimore, Chris has been the Chair of the Business Law Department of Semmes, Bowen & Semmes, one of Baltimore's oldest and largest law firms, and has served on the firm's management committee. He is a past president of the Bar Association of Baltimore City. He has served two terms on the Maryland State Bar Association's Board of Governors. Chris and his wife, Anne, are long-time members of Emmanuel and he twice served as Senior Warden of Emmanuel Episcopal Church, where he also chaired the 125th Anniversary Capital Campaign. Currently, Chris serves as our church’s legal counsel as needed.
