About Emmanuel’s Outreach Grants

Overview

Emmanuel Episcopal Church makes grants of approximately $1000 to $10,000 with the typical award around $5000 primarily in the areas of racial equity, LGBT equality and environmental justice. We fund nonprofit organizations serving marginalized populations in Baltimore City with operating budgets less than one million annually.  We seek opportunities to invest in organizations that improve the quality of life for people living in Baltimore City.

To be considered for funding, an organization must meet several requirements:

  • Applicants must be nonprofit organizations as defined in Section 501(c)(3) and Section 509(a) of the Internal Revenue Code.

  • Applicants must carry on their work principally in Baltimore City.

  • Applicants may not discriminate based on race, creed, color, disabilities, or gender.

Emmanuel Episcopal Church does not provide funds for:

  • Endowments

  • Individuals

  • Building campaigns

  • Deficit financing

  • Annual giving

  • Entertainment

  • Publications

  • Political action groups

Applicants are expected to demonstrate adequate administrative capacity and financial stability in their requests. Although this is not a requirement, we welcome grantees to participate in activities sponsored by Emmanuel Church including presenting at our First Sunday Forum.

A request for proposal will be publicized by March 17, 2025, for one year funding. Applications are due by 11:59 PM on April 28, 2025. Late applications will not be reviewed. Notification of award will be sent out by the end of May 2025.

Reporting requirements

Emmanuel requires a final report approximately 30 days after the end of the grant period. The final report can be found here. Grantees that do not submit a final report will not be considered for future funding.
