Baptisms, Weddings, Funerals, and Memorials

WEDDINGS.  Our 1854 main sanctuary in downtown Baltimore’s historic Mount Vernon neighborhood is a truly wonderful place to have a wedding.  The main sanctuary seats 800 and for a very intimate setting, the Eccleston Chapel is exceptional and seats 60.  Adjacent spaces are available for the use of the wedding party on the wedding day.  Emmanuel does not require affiliation with the Episcopal denomination, but does require that at least one of the couple be a baptized Christian.  The ceremony will be the traditional Episcopal liturgy which has its roots in the Anglican tradition.  Emmanuel has two wedding coordinators to assist with wedding planning as it involves the church.  During 2009, you can expect fees related to the church, clergy, music and other related matters to total $2,500 if the main sanctuary is used, $2,000 if the chapel is used.  Weddings are always scheduled on Saturdays, excluding Lent and certain holiday weekends.

BAPTISMS.  Baptisms are conducted several times each year, typically on a Sunday morning in association with the regular Sunday 10:30 a.m. service.  Discuss your needs with one of our clergy.

FUNERALS AND MEMORIALS.  Christian burial is available at Emmanuel for non members as well as members.  The service is from the Episcopal Book of Common Prayer.  Often arrangements are handled by the Funeral Home being used by the family of the deceased, however our clergy stand ready to assist and advise the family as needed.  There is no clergy honorarium requested for funerals or memorials, though a donation to the church’s outreach ministries will be appreciated.  There are professional or service fees for music, the church sexton, and the kitchen sexton (if there is food and beverage service after the church service).
